full green fee every time you play a golf round.
The courses on the coast are fantastic, but the normal "rack" rates for playing are quite expensive.

But there is a way to enjoy great discounts - and still play regularly at some top rated courses.

How ?

By joining IGS - the International Golf Society of Southern Spain - even if you are just here on holiday for a few days or weeks. Short term holiday as well as full annual memberships now available

IGS offer substantial discounts on green fees with many of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol.

These include : La Cala, Los Naranjos, San Roque, La Reserva, El Chaparral, Alcaidesa, Almenara, Atalaya, Calanova, Estepona, Finca Cortesin, Doña Julia and Santa Maria. More golf courses are added every week

Benefits of Holiday Membership of IGS

• You can play discounted golf 3 times within 7 days - typically you will save between 20 and 40 euros per game, compared to the normal rates charged by the golf clubs.

• If you play 3 times in one week of holiday, your saving is up to 120 euros in green fees, depending where you play

• You will receive substantial savings on green fees on golf courses all along the Costa del Sol – up to 50%off the usual rates

• You are invited to join weekly "roll-up" competitions – turn up an event and join the competition if you want, and meet fellow IGS golfers.

• You don't HAVE to join in the competitions - you still get the discount on your games when playing alone

• If you like what IGS have to offer, you can take up full IGS membership, with a discount on the annual fee

• Book golf lessons with the IGS Teaching Professional - cost is €20 for 30 minutes (at January 2007)

How does it work?

IGS offers Temporary IGS Memberships for periods of one, two or four weeks, in addition to their normal annual membership arrangement. IGS find many holiday members become full members in any case.

Once you have registered as a member you will receive a membership card enabling you to obtain numerous golf discounts. You will also receive details of all forthcoming events plus any special offers available to you.

How much does it cost?

One week € 30 euros (approx £ 20)

Two weeks € 45 euros (approx £ 30)

One month € 60 euros (approx £ 40)

One year € 95 euros (approx £ 63)

How much can you save on your green fees ?

Play just once at IGS discounted rate, and you will have covered the joining fee for a week (in most cases).

Play three times and you can save the equivalent of an annual membership fee !!

The Social side ...You can meet fellow golfers at weekly roll-ups and monthly competitions, as well as challenging other members in their annual Match Play Tournament.

In June 2007, the IGS Matchplay Final will be staged at Valderrama Golf Course near Gibraltar - regular venue of the Volvo Masters tournament - and in past years a Ryder Cup venue.

Also, in February 2007, IGS organised a weekend of golf in Jerez, the sherry capital of Spain, which includes a visit to a sherry and included tourist activities for non-golfing partners.
